Meta’s Generic Template

Please add support for Meta’s Generic Template in the initial private reply sent by Comment-to-DM automations.

Currently, "POST /v1/comment-automations" supports a text message with up to three inline buttons using Meta’s Button Template. We would also like to send a structured product card containing:

- Image

- Title

- Subtitle or product description

- Price

- Up to three URL or postback buttons

Our use case is Instagram product sales. When a user comments a keyword such as “price” under a product post or Reel, the first private reply should display the product image, details, price and an “Order Now” button inside one card—even when the message is delivered to Instagram Message Requests.

A possible API structure could be:

{

"templateType": "generic",

"elements": [

{

"imageUrl": "https://example.com/product.jpg",

"title": "Product Name",

"subtitle": "Product description • $48",

"buttons": [

{

"type": "url",

"title": "Order Now",

"url": "https://example.com/order"

}

]

}

]

}

Ideally, the existing "dmMessage" and "buttons" implementation would remain available for backward compatibility, while "generic" could be introduced as an optional template type.

This would make Zernio’s Comment-to-DM feature significantly more useful for e-commerce, product catalogues, restaurants, beauty services, bookings and lead-generation campaigns.

    Hey, this is live now.

    A comment-to-DM automation can send a product card instead of a text DM: image, title, description or price, and up to 3 buttons (url or postback). Up to 10 cards render as a swipeable carousel.

    In the dashboard: Inbox > Campaigns > Comment-to-DM, open an automation and add a Product Card.

    Via the API it is an optional template on POST /v1/comment-automations, using the same shape our inbox send API already accepts:

    ▎ {

    ▎ "template": {

    ▎ "type": "generic",

    ▎ "elements": [{

    ▎ "imageUrl": "https://example.com/product.jpg",

    ▎ "title": "Product Name",

    ▎ "subtitle": "Product description, $48",

    ▎ "buttons": [{ "type": "url", "title": "Order Now", "url": "https://example.com/order" }]

    ▎ }]

    ▎ }

    Very close to what you proposed. dmMessage and buttons keep working exactly as before, so nothing changes unless you add a card.
