Meta:Chat with leads from Instant Form Enable Request

Hi Miguel / Zernio team,

Thanks again for shipping the update so quickly.

We tested it in production and can confirm that SMS verification is now working correctly. Forms created through Zernio now show “Require SMS verification before submitting the form” as enabled in Meta Ads Manager.

However, we confirmed that the second feature is still not the same Meta setting we originally meant.

There are currently three different Meta features that look similar:

  1. thank_you_page.enable_messenger
This adds/continues Messenger behavior on the thank-you screen.

  2. is_lead_capture_ai_agent_enabled
This is Meta's new Lead Capture AI Agent, which provides a conversational experience while the user is completing the Instant Form.

  3. “Chat with leads from Instant Form” under “Follow up with leads” / Lead nurturing
This is the feature we actually need.

We manually enabled #3 in Meta Ads Manager on one of our forms/ads and now have 5 real production example confirming the behavior:

5 Thai user submitted the Instant Form, opted in to receive messages, and Meta automatically created a Messenger conversation with the Page. The Messenger thread contained the lead's submitted form answers, including name, company, phone number, email and custom qualification questions.

This is exactly the workflow we need.

When the equivalent form is created through Zernio:

  • SMS verification: ✅ works now

  • thank_you_page.enable_messenger: ✅ returned as enabled

  • Meta Ads Manager → Follow up with leads → Chat with leads from Instant Form: ❌ still unchecked

So thank_you_page.enable_messenger does not enable this lead-nurturing setting, and is_lead_capture_ai_agent_enabled is also a separate AI form-filling feature.

Could you please investigate the exact Meta configuration used by:

Follow up with leads → Chat with leads from Instant Form

It may now be part of Meta's Lead Nurturing / ad-level messaging configuration rather than the original Instant Form thank-you-page schema.

The easiest reproduction may be to create two identical Lead Ads:

  • A: created through Zernio

  • B: created manually in Meta Ads Manager with “Chat with leads from Instant Form” enabled

Then compare the Meta form/ad/creative/lead-nurturing configuration behind both objects.

This feature is very important for our use case. We are bringing many Chinese factories onto Meta Ads to reach overseas buyers, and we want submitted leads to enter Messenger automatically so our sales/AI follow-up workflow can respond immediately without requiring factory users to configure anything manually inside Meta Ads Manager.

SMS verification is working perfectly after your update — thank you for fixing that. We would really appreciate your help exposing this specific Lead Nurturing feature as well!

The image below shows the complete workflow we are trying to achieve.

We created the Instant Form through Zernio, and then manually enabled the second option shown in the screenshot: “Chat with leads from instant form.”

After that, a real customer in Thailand saw the ad, submitted the Instant Form, and opted in to receive messages. Meta then automatically created a Messenger conversation with our Facebook Page and sent the customer's submitted form information directly into the conversation, including their contact details and answers to our custom qualification questions.

This is exactly the behavior we need.

When “Chat with leads from instant form” is not enabled, the lead submission itself is still available through Meta, so we can still receive the contact information entered in the form. However, Meta does not automatically create a Messenger conversation with that lead, which means we do not get a direct Messenger thread that our sales team or AI follow-up system can immediately continue.

For our workflow, this difference is critical. We want every qualified lead who opts in to messaging to automatically enter Messenger after submitting the form, so our factory customers can contact and follow up with the buyer immediately without having to manually search for them or switch to another communication channel.

This is why the specific “Chat with leads from instant form” setting is essential for us, rather than only thank_you_page.enable_messenger

THANKS A LOT!!

We investigated this properly and have a concrete answer, plus something useful you can act on today.

What we tested. We compared, field by field on Meta's Graph API, two of your ads where you had ticked "Chat with leads from Instant Form" in Ads Manager against ads where you had not. The lead form, the ad set and the creative are byte for byte identical. The only difference is on the ad: the toggled ads carry an extra tracking spec, leadgen_nurturing_messenger_deep_conversation, alongside messenger and post_leadgen_whatsapp_deep_conversation.

So we tried setting exactly that on our own ad account. Meta accepts it, both in validate_only and on a real create, and it reads back on the ad. But when we opened the resulting ad in Ads Manager, "Follow up with leads > Chat with leads from Instant Form" was still unticked. The tracking spec is a symptom of the setting, not the switch.

We also checked Meta's Business SDK object definitions for the lead form, the ad, the ad set, the creative and the Page. There is no field for this anywhere, and thank_you_page.enable_messenger and is_lead_capture_ai_agent_enabled are the two different features you already identified. As far as we can establish, the setting is not exposed on the Marketing API at all right now.

The useful part. It looks like the behaviour is inherited per Page once you have enabled it. On your Locanex Tools Page (1065718829953953), every lead ad carries the nurturing tracking spec, including five created through Zernio that were never opened in Ads Manager, for example 52577814227840 and 52576588655040. On your LSK Tools Page, only the two ads you toggled by hand carry it. If that holds, you would enable it once per Page in Ads Manager and then keep creating ads through our API normally.

Could you open one of those two Zernio-created Locanex ads and tell us whether the box shows as ticked? If it does, this is solved for you without waiting on Meta. If it does not, we will raise it with Meta as a missing Marketing API surface, and expose it here the day they ship a field for it.

I checked both ads you referenced, 52577814227840 and 52576588655040.

Unfortunately, neither can be used to verify the Page-level inheritance hypothesis. Both are still drafts, have never been published, and neither has an Instant Form attached. Because of that, Ads Manager does not show the “Follow up with leads > Chat with leads from Instant Form” option on either ad, so there is no checkbox for me to inspect.

The fact that these draft ads already contain leadgen_nurturing_messenger_deep_conversation is interesting, but since you already confirmed that adding this tracking spec alone does not enable the setting, I don't think its presence on these ads is sufficient to prove that the feature was inherited from the Page.

I think the cleanest test would be to create a complete Lead Ad through Zernio on the Locanex Tools Page, with an Instant Form attached and all required fields configured, without manually touching the follow-up setting in Ads Manager. I can then open that ad in Ads Manager and check whether “Chat with leads from Instant Form” is automatically enabled.

If useful, we can also run the same test on the LSK Tools Page as a control.🥰

You were right to push back, and my Page-inheritance theory was wrong. I re-ran it properly across all six of your ad accounts.

What the data actually says. Of 141 ads, 120 have an Instant Form attached, and every single one of those 120 carries leadgen_nurturing_messenger_deep_conversation. Not one lacks it, on any Page:

      • Page 1065718829953953 (Locanex Tools): 44 lead ads, 44 with the spec, 0 without

      • Page 1150959098101485: 62 lead ads, 62 with the spec, 0 without

      • Page 1127893590407479: 14 lead ads, 14 with the spec, 0 without

The 21 ads that do not carry it are the ones with no Instant Form. So the tracking spec marks "this is a lead ad", not "the follow-up setting is on". My earlier claim that only your two hand-toggled ads on the other Page carried it does not survive the larger sample, and the inheritance conclusion I drew from it goes with it. Sorry for sending you after that.

One correction the other way. Both ads I named do have an Instant Form attached: 52577814227840 uses form 1570247578093111 (CTA GET_QUOTE) and 52576588655040 uses form 1535269184492198 (CTA APPLY_NOW). What they are not is live: the first is CAMPAIGN_PAUSED and the second PAUSED. That is the likelier reason Ads Manager gives you no checkbox to inspect, rather than a missing form.

Where that leaves the API. I probed the form object directly on v24.0. thank_you_page, follow_up_action_url, allow_organic_lead, block_display_for_non_targeted_viewer, is_optimized_for_quality, question_page_custom_headline and tracking_parameters all exist. messenger_follow_up, enable_messenger_follow_up, lead_nurturing, is_lead_nurturing_enabled, chat_with_leads, conversational_setting and is_lead_capture_ai_agent_enabled are not fields at all. Combined with the above, there is now no API-visible signal for this setting anywhere: not on the form, not on the ad, not in the tracking specs.

Your proposed test is the right one, and it is now the only one. Please create a complete Lead Ad through Zernio on the Locanex Tools Page and publish it (an active campaign and ad set, not paused), without touching Ads Manager, then open it and tell us whether "Chat with leads from Instant Form" is ticked. The LSK control would be useful too. Since the tracking spec turned out to carry no signal, opening the ad is the only way to read the answer.

In parallel we are raising this with Meta as a missing Marketing API surface. If a field appears, we will expose it here the day it ships.

Thanks a lot! BTW, I noticed that Meta has an update in its system and the original singal button changed into like this:

SO maybe there are another pack of new APIs waiting to be opened by Meta.
We were hoping that Zernio could kindly follow Meta on this part, Thanks again!
